match-maker, match-maker...

“The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe, to match your nature with Nature.” -- Joseph Campbell
So I've been putting a lot of thought in to what my bridesmaids will be wearing... and I've had a lot of fun so far. The thoughtful bride-to-be that I am, I've been trying to consider dresses that seem like they'd flatter any of my bridesmaids (and that would be wallet-friendly, too). With all that in mind, I also wanted all of my bridesmaids to match, thinking it might be more formal/unified/coordinated/aesthetically pleasing/etc. But alas, I've been reading a lot about how it's becoming increasingly popular to just pick a color and dress length (and/or fabric), and let the bridesmaids each pick their own dresses, that way they'll pick one that best suits them (in style and price) and they'll be more likely to wear it again (click here or here for more info). So now the dilemma is to match or not to match... Any thoughts?

I don't know if I'll be any help either....because, me, personally, I like things to match and be aesthetically pleasing, but then again, I agree with the bridesmaid's wearing the dresses again, if you let them pick them out. It's all up to you, and how you would want it to look at your wedding. This is your big day Kat, and while I know you're just like me, and you worry about how everyone else will feel, or whether they'll like it, you should do what YOU want to do, and know that they'll trust you and your best judgement. As long as you don't pick something too impractical (which I know you won't, since I've seen your choices) your bridesmaids will beautiful, standing next to a gorgeous bride! Which you do look gorgeous by the way in all those new pictures! So, take a deep breathe, and just take your time, and your choice will be perfect. I miss you like CRAZY and can't wait to see you this weekend! Get ready for some V-ball action :) Safe travels to you all!!!

hmmm i like matching. but i also really like the idea of getting the dresses from a place like anthropologie. but if you decide non- matching, id say make sure people show you the dresses before the buy them.
